 "MOLECULAR & APPLIED PHYSIOLOGY"

ANNOUNCEMENT

ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025

The Medical School of the University of Athens announces the Postgraduate Program entitled: "Molecular and Applied Physiology" for the Academic Year 2024-2025, in accordance with the conditions provided by law. 
In the third and fourth semester the MSc introduces specializations at theoretical and practical level:  
A) Specialization "Laboratory Medicine - Basic Research" 
B) Specialization "Clinical Embryology and Preimplantation Embryo Genetics"
C) Specialization "Therapeutic Exercise"  

The MSc leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma (BMI) (M.Sc.) in "Molecular and Applied Physiology", after a cycle of studies lasting four (4) academic semesters. The first two semesters concern theoretical training with modern means of education (a) in Cellular Physiology (differentiation, autophagy, apoptosis, cell cycle) and (b) in Systems Physiology. In the third and fourth semesters specializations are introduced. 

 

The MSc cooperates, for the successful completion of the candidates' studies and diploma thesis (third & fourth semester), with Research Institutes and Organizations of the country (such as the Hellenic Pasteur Institute - National Hellenic Research Foundation - Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens - NCSR Demokritos, Biomedical Sciences Research Center NCCI "Alexander Fleming", etc.) as well as with University & Clinics of the National Health Service (Rehabilitation Clinic KAT Hospital,  Pulmonology Clinic, EVANGELISMOS Hospital etc).  In addition, it collaborates with Private and Public Institutions, such as the Medically Assisted Reproduction Unit of the "Genesis Athens" Clinic, the Medically Assisted Reproduction Unit "Institute of Life" of IASO Group, the Medically Assisted Reproduction Unit "HYGEIA IVF", "Embryogenesis", the Medically Assisted Reproduction Unit "Gennima-IVF", the Medically Assisted Reproduction Unit of the General Hospital "Elena Venizelou", the Recovery Centers,  Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, such as "Physiopolis", "H-OMT. D", "THESEUS", "PHILOCTETES" etc.

 

Holders of a degree from Universities or Technological Educational Institutes of Greece or an equivalent degree from foreign Universities, coming from Departments of Medicine, Biology, Psychology, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Nutrition & Justification, Occupational Therapy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Informatics, Nursing, Physical Education and Physical Education, Physiotherapists and related University Departments, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, as well as from Departments of Agricultural Universities, are admitted to the MSc in order to receive the Postgraduate Diploma.  in accordance with the conditions provided by the Law and the Rules of Procedure of the MSc.

The cost of participation in the Postgraduate Program of Studies for each student is 1.000,00 €/semester.

The choice of admission to the MSc will be based on the following criteria:

  • Degree grade or transcript certificate for seniors.

  • Performance in undergraduate courses related to the direction.

  • Proven proficiency in English.

  • Evaluation of letters of recommendation.

  • Personal interview.

  • Any other information relating to the qualifications of the candidates evidenced by the supporting documents submitted.

 

According to the Government Gazette, the supporting documents required by candidates to submit are the following:  

  • Application form, marked Postgraduate Program of Studies in Molecular and Applied Physiology (The choice of direction can be made at the beginning or after the 20th semester).

  • Copy of degree or certificate of completion of studies

Students from foreign institutions must provide an official translation of their degree as well as a certificate of equivalence and equivalence from DOATAP, according to no. 34, para. 7 of Law 4485/17. Graduates who do not yet have a degree at the time of application may submit a certificate from the relevant School that they have successfully completed their degree examinations and submit their degree upon receipt.

  • Transcript of Records Certificate

  • Full curriculum vitae, including information about the candidate's studies, research or professional activity, possible scientific work and interests.

  • B2 English Language Certificate

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Photocopy of two sides of the identity card

  • Any other element which, in the opinion of the candidates, would contribute to the Steering Committee forming a fuller and more complete view.

The selection of candidates will take place in two (2) interview cycles: a) Wednesday 3/7/02024 (application submission date until 28/6/2024) and b) Friday 20/9/2024 if there are vacancies (application date until 17/9/2024).
